The Society of St. Andrew believes that all of us working together can eliminate world hunger, beginning by ending hunger in America. Since 1983, they have been using the imperfect produce left in fields to rot, or turned away by commercial markets to feed America’s hungry.
The number of Carolinians experiencing hunger has grown considerably in the last few years. Today, roughly 1 out of 5 of our neighbors isn’t sure where their next meal will come from. The generosity of farmers, gardeners, produce wholesalers and business owners allowed the Society of St. Andrew to salvage 5.7 million pounds of produce in 2017 to reduce the uncertainty for hungry people in our community.
The Refectory is proud to have contributed 655 pounds of produce to this effort last year. For ways you can get involved with this incredible program, call 800-333-4597, email email@example.com, or click here.
